Maroon 5 is a rock band from Los Angeles. Frontman and lead singer Adam Levine is the most well-known member of the band. His coaching time on ‘The Voice,’ in addition to other pop culture ventures, have allowed Maroon 5 to remain relevant in the pop music scene. Levine and multiple other band members met in high school, forming the band Kara’s Flowers before their debut album and single tanked. They were let go from the label. After the members parted ways and attended college, their knowledge of music grew. They began recording again in 2001. Maroon 5’s debut album ‘Songs About Jane’ dropped in 2002. It catapulted the band to success with hits such as “Sunday Morning,” “Harder to Breathe,” “She Will Be Loved,” and “This Love." The album was a mix of gritty rock, punk, and pop-rock. It would be five years until the band returned with ‘It Won’t Be Soon Before Long’ in 2007. Tracks such as “Makes Me Wonder” and “Wake Up Call” became major hits from their sophomore album. ‘Hands All Over’ dropped in 2010 following by ‘Overexposed’ in 2012 and ‘V’ in 2014. As the band aged, their songs leaned more into the pop realm with featured artists that are some of the biggest names in the industry. This list includes Kendrick Lamar, SZA, and more. More recent hits on their catalog include “Maps,” “Sugar,” and “Don’t Wanna Know” featuring Kendrick Lamar. “What Lovers Do” is a single off of their 2017 album ‘Red Blue Pills.’ Maroon 5 is touring in 2018!
